Is Your Facility Ready For The New Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI)

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has been mailing out new Medicare cards. Medicare is removing Social Security numbers from all Medicare cards and replacing it with a new identifier called MBI (Medicare Beneficiary Identity).

These new cards will replace the Social Security based cards for all transactions such as claim status, eligibility and billing.

Many of the residents in your facility may already have their MBI cards, considering these cards have been mailed out in waves since April 2018. To help assist in the transition, Approved Admissions will automatically discover and pre-fill MBI or old SSN based medicare cards, this will eliminate time being spent on searching old and new Medicare numbers when running eligibility transactions.
